Writing is one of the most ingenious inventions of the human spirit. Writing imparts a message to the observer, delivering important information. The degree to which historical scriptures reflect the essence of society, is remarkable.
One example is the Roman "Capitalis Monomentails" of the 1st century AD which incorporates only capital letters. Writing is the image of the spoken word and not only the meaning of its contents but also its outward form remains unchanged for centuries. The millenium long development of writing culminates in the latin font of the 18th century.
Unfortunately, the expressiveness and force of font type is given too little attention today. The ways an means with which a font is presented, can influence a reader both positively and negatively.
Most particularly in times of uniformity of written characters, is it of great importance to rediscover the harmony and expressiveness of a script. (For example) A beautifully rendered typeface can draw attention to a company.
